Dr. Whitney is a Gifted Education Specialist with the Olentangy School District in Lewis Center, Ohio. She was also awarded Teacher of the Year at Arrowhead Elementary where she teaches, was nominated for Distinguished Educator of the Year with OAGC, and was one of four teachers selected from the state for Best Teacher of Mathematics in Ohio. Other honors include the Golden Apple Achievement Award from Ashland Chemical and the 2007 Financial Achievement Award for Personal Finance Literacy from the Ohio JumpStart Financial Literacy Coalition.

She is an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University, has served on the board of the Ohio Association for Gifted Coordinators, and received the Communications Award from the Educational Facilities Center in Chicago.

Dr. Whitney earned her undergraduate and master’s degree at Western Michigan University and her Ph.D. in curriculum development at Ohio State University. She established successful gifted programs in two of Ohio’s fastest-growing school districts and consulted with many other communities as they researched and established gifted programming. Her “in the trenches” perspectives on giftedness stem from more than 30 years’ experience as a teacher of gifted children. She continues to serve the needs of these unique students every day in the elementary classroom.
